Upset! Herman Cain Beats Perry and Romney by More Than 2-to-1 in Florida Straw Poll

( -Former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain not only won the Florida Republican presidentail straw poll on Saturday but defeated each of his closest rivals--Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney--by more than two to one.

Cain won 37.4 percent of the 2,657 votes cast at the event held in Orlando, Fla., with Perry placing second at 15.4 percent and Romney placing third at 14 percent.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania finished fourth with 10.9 percent, followed by Rep. Ron Paul of Texas at 10.4 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia at 8.4 percent, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman with 2.3 percent, and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with 1.5 percent.

In the past, the Florida straw poll has had a good record of predicting eventual Republican presidential nominees. Ronald Reagan won it in 1979. George H.W. Bush won it in 1987. And Bob Dole won it in 1995.
