(CNSNews.com) - In his inaugural speech today, President Donald Trump told the American people that his administration would be dedicated to putting America first.

"From this day forward," Trump declared, "it is going to be only: America first!"

The new president's speech tracked many of the themes and promises he made during his campaign.

“We’ve defended other nation’s borders while refusing to defend our own," he said. "And spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.

“We have made other countries rich," he said, "while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.

“One by one," Trump said, "the factories shuttered and left our shores with not even a thought of the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind.

“The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from our homes and then redistributed all across the world," he said. "But that is the past and now we are looking only to the future.

“We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital and every hall of power," President Trump said. "From this day forward a new vision will govern our land. From this day forward it is going to be only: America First! America First!

“Every decision on trade on taxes on on immigration on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families," he said.
