(CNSNews.com) - "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt," President Trump tweeted on Friday morning.

It's not clear if Trump was referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Rosenstein wrote the memo explaining the reasons why Trump should fire Comey. Rosenstein also appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate all things Trump and Russia.

On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that Mueller's investigation has now expanded to include potential obstruction of justice by Donald Trump.

At a congresional hearing last week, Comey confirmed that he told Trump three times that Trump was not being investigated as part of the Russia-collusion probe, and Trump tweeted "total and complete vindication" at that time. But on Friday, Trump said he is being investigation for firing Comey.

Trump also tweeted on Friday morning:

-- "Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great. Regulations way down, jobs and enthusiasm way up!"

-- "The Fake News Media hates when I use what has turned out to be my very powerful Social Media - over 100 million people! I can go around them"

-- "After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians,' nobody has been able to show any proof. Sad!"

Since his inauguration, President Trump has issued dozens of tweets blasting reports that he or his campaign coordinated or colluded with Russia, and that doesn't include all of his tweets blasting "fake news" and "leakers."

Yesterday, June 15, Trump issued four tweets referencing the Russia investigation, which reportedly now includes an examination of whether President Trump obstructed justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey:

-- "Crooked H destroyed phones w/ hammer, 'bleached' emails, & had husband meet w/AG days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?"

-- "Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russia are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?"

-- "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!  #MAGA"

-- "They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice".

Trump's friend Newt Gingrich -- who is out with a new book titled "Understanding Trump" -- is among those raising questions about the "anti-Trump" focus of Mueller's investigation.

"Mueller is now clearly the (tip) of the deep state spear aimed at destroying or at a minimum undermining and crippling the Trump presidency," Gingrich tweeted on Thursday. "Mueller is setting up a dragnet of obstruction, financial questions and every aspect of Trump's life and his associates lives.very dangerous," Gingrich said.

And Gingrich's final tweet on Thursday: "The brazen redefinition of Mueller's task tells you how arrogant the deep state is and how confident it is it can get away with anything."
