(CNSNews.com) -- Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) said she believes that an unborn baby with a human heart is "a human being" and that the harvesting of aborted baby parts by Planned Parenthood (PP) is "barbaric" and “shouldn’t be tolerated in this country.”
On Wednesday, the House passed a continuing resolution (CR) that funds the federal government through December 11. The CR includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which performed 327,653 abortions last year.
CNSNews.com asked Walorski, who later voted against the CR that funds Planned Parenthood: “Is an unborn baby with a human heart and a human liver a human being?”
Rep. Walorski replied: “I would say yes, it’s a human heart, and it’s a human being. And I would say I have worked for ten years at the state legislature and here [in Congress] to defund Planned Parenthood, because I think their practices of [harvesting] body parts are barbaric.”
She added that Planned Parenthood’s activities “shouldn’t be tolerated in this country.”
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is currently investigating Planned Parenthood’s use of federal funds.
The nation's largest abortion provider received $528.4 million from government grants and reimbursements in FY2014, which equaled 41 percent of its revenue.
But Planned Parenthood has come under increased scrutiny recently after recent videos released by the Center for Medical Progress show senior PP officials discussing the harvesting and selling of fetal body parts.
