(CNSNews.com) – In its Annual Performance Report for 2014-2015, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) announced its member organizations around the globe performed 3.8 million “abortion-related” services.
“With the delivery of 149.3 million sexual and reproductive health services in 2014, I am pleased to report that we remain on course to reach our target of doubling services between 2010 and 2015,” IPPF Director General Tewodros Melesse wrote in the report’s introduction. “Nearly one in two of our services was provided to a young person under the age of 25.”
“Our commitment to reaching those who are most in need of sexual and reproductive health information and services is unwavering with an estimated 52.6 million of our clients being poor or vulnerable,” Melesse wrote.
The report, From Choice, A World of Possibilities, states that “safe abortion care” includes surgical, medical, and “incomplete abortion treatment,” totaling 3,779,883 such services for 2014-2015. (page 23)
The report also reveals IPPF provided 188,783 “emergency contraceptives” and distributed 187 million condoms.
In addition to “reproductive health care services,” IPPF uses sex education curricula from The Population Council that includes subjects such as “gender identity,” “sexual diversity,” “sexual expression and enjoyment,” and “sexual rights.”
“The ultimate goal of “It’s All One Curriculum is to develop the capacity of young people to enjoy — and advocate for their rights to — dignity, equality, and responsible, satisfying, and healthy sexual lives,” the curriculum’s introduction states.
The IPPF report also notes the organizations that support it financially, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Marguerite Casey Foundation, and the Wilma and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
