Trump's Wednesday Tweets: Hurricanes and Tax Relief

( – President Donald Trump made a push for tax reform in his tweets Wednesday, saying it’s needed “more than ever before” in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“With Irma and Harvey devastation, Tax Cuts and Tax Reform is needed more than ever before. Go Congress, go!” the president tweeted.



The president plans to visit Florida Thursday to meet with first responders in the wake of the hurricane. FEMA Administrator Brock Long traveled there on Tuesday.


“I will be traveling to Florida tomorrow to meet with our great Coast Guard, FEMA and many of the brave first responders & others,” Trump tweeted.

The president urged Congress to “move fast” on tax reform.

“The approval process for the biggest Tax Cut & Tax Reform package in the history of our country will soon begin. Move fast Congress!” the president tweeted.


As previously reported, the president had dinner with a bipartisan group of senators to talk about tax reform: Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) - as well as three Republicans senators - Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and John Thune (R-S.D.).

He's meeting with a bipartisan group of 13 House members on Wednesday afternoon to discuss tax relief.
