(CNSNews.com) -- President Obama’s trip to the 13-day Paris Climate Change Conference last fall cost taxpayers at least $4,165,068.40, according to information obtained by the government watchdog organization Judicial Watch.

“Obama’s Paris junket is another example of wasteful and unnecessary presidential travel that abuses the taxpayers, the military, and the U.S. Secret Service,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

President Obama flew to Paris last year to attend an international conference from November 30 to December 12. Representatives of 195 countries reached the Paris Climate Agreement to address the alleged threat of manmade climate change, which Obama said could “could define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other.”

Ironically, planes and cars carrying the representatives of 195 countries to the conference emitted 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide, by one estimate.

Records from the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of the Air Force, which Judicial Watch obtained through a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), showed that the Secret Service spent $1,324,171.60 on the trip, while the Air Force spent $2,840,896.80.

Included in the Secret Service’s spending was $82,991.60 for air and rail travel, $531,598 for rental vehicles, $10,820 for overtime pay, $3,241 for cell phones, $652 for a photo copier, and $624 for miscellaneous expenses.

Secret Service also spent $706,065 at several different Parisian hotels, mostly at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, which describes itself as “a superbly renovated luxury hotel” which “defines historical grandeur.”

Operating Air Force One, which costs $180,118 per hour, for the 14.5 hours of flight cost American taxpayers $2,593,699.20, while and additional Air Force plane accompanying the president cost $247,197.60.

These totals did not include money spent on the travel and catering for other cabinet members who attended the conference, nor the cost of meals and office spaces for Secret Service agents.

These records show that nearly $3 million in taxpayer money was spent on this trip. This brings the total of known travel expenses by President Obama and his family during his seven years in office to $83,795,502.33.
