President Trump has not designated June as "Pride" Month.

( - In a break with his predecessors, President Donald Trump has not proclaimed June as LGBT “Pride” Month for the second year in a row.

While Trump has designated June as National Homeownership Month, National Ocean Month, Great Outdoors Month, and National Caribbean-American Heritage Month, he has been silent about Pride Month.

Bill Clinton was the first president to declare what was then called “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.” George W. Bush discontinued the practice when he was elected president, and then LGBTQ Pride Month was reinstated during the Obama administration, with President Obama making a Pride Month proclamation for each of his eight years in office.

In his 2016 proclamation, Obama noted the 2015 landmark Supreme Court decision legalizing homosexual marriage in all 50 states, calling it “a historic victory for LGBT Americans, ensuring dignity for same-sex couples and greater equality across State lines.” He said the court affirmed “the belief that we are all more free when we are treated as equals.”

During his presidential campaign, Trump tweeted in June 2016: “Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.”

Two months earlier, in April 2016, Trump told an interviewer it would be okay for Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, to use the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower.

While in office, however, Trump has angered the LGBT community by calling for a ban on transgender individuals serving openly in the military and by rescinding an Obama administration guideline instructing schools to allow students to use the bathroom that corresponds with their “gender identity.”

Vice President Mike Pence stated in a 2006 speech, “societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and the family” and has argued that not recognizing same-sex marriages is simply “enforcing ‘God’s idea.’”

President Trump’s silence on Pride Month has angered liberal advocacy groups. The Human Rights campaign tweeted, “In May, Trump and Pence recognized national Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Today, they recognized National Ocean Month and Great Outdoors Month. And yet, they still refuse to recognize #Pride month for #LGBTQ Americans. Why are Trump and Pence so insistent on erasing us?”
