( - According to the NFL Network, Lauren Silberman is set to become the first female player to participate in a regional scouting combine.

Silberman played varsity soccer while at the University of Wisconsin, before seeking a master’s degree at MIT.

The 28-year-old kicker will take part in the New Jersey regional combine in early March. The best participants from the regional combines head to the super-regional combine in April.

If the player does not load, please check that you are running the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

“I realize I may not make an NFL team this year,” Silberman told the NFL Network, “but for me, I’m expecting to have fun, to meet really interesting people and hopefully perfect my technique from the other tremendous kickers that will be in attendance.”
