(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D.-N.Y.) in a townhall televised by MSNBC on Monday night accused President Donald Trump of spewing “hate, racism and antisemitism” and inspiring more.
“One of the reasons I am running for president is because what Donald Trump has done to this country,” Gillibrand said.
“He’s made her family afraid to worship,” Gillibrand said (referencing a Palestinian-American woman at the townhall who had asked her a question.
“He has spread fear and hate and degradation across this country,” said Gillibrand.
“He has spewed hate, racism, antisemitism, and has inspired more,” she said.
“Now, Donald Trump did not create hate and racism and bigotry and antisemitism, but what he has done has poured fuel on a fire that is raging more than I have ever seen it in my lifetime,” Gillibrand said. “Hate crimes have gone up exponentially all across my state, all across the country because what Donald Trump has unleashed.
“I have the courage to stand up for him—to stand up against him,” she said.
