( - Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas put out a Tweet on Wednesday afternoon saying that climate change ‘is the greatest threat we face’ and presenting his four-part plan to solve it.

“Climate change is the greatest threat we face—and we have one last chance to meet this moment before it’s too late,” he said. “That’s why we were the first campaign to release a plan.”

O’Rourke’s plan is entitled: “Taking On Our Greatest Threat: Climate Change.”

“The costs of climate change will measure in the tens of trillions of dollars, in lives lost, and livelihoods devastated and destroyed,” says O’Rourke’s plan.

“We are the first generation to feel the climate crisis, and the last generation with the ability to avert its worst aspects,” says the plan.

The first part of O’Rourke’s plan is: “Start cutting pollution on day one and taking executive actions to lead on climate.” The second is: “Mobilize $5 trillion for climate change with investment in infrastructure, innovation and our people and communities.” The third is: “Guarantee our net-zero emissions ambition by 2050.” The fourth is: “Defend our communities that are preparing for and fighting against extreme weather.”
