Commenting on the push by liberals for more gun control in America, Rev. Rafael Cruz said that when you look at dictators, one of the things they do is take guns away from law-abiding citizens, and this always leads to social disaster.
“Look at all the tinhorn dictators that have taken guns away,” said Rev. Cruz in an interview with Dr. David Reagan on the Christ in Prophecy program.
“Stalin took the guns away and killed 20 million people,” he said. “Mao took the guns away and killed, like, 50 million people. So did Pol Pot, so did Castro.”
“Every dictator that has taken the guns away has used them against the population,” said the reverend.
According to the The Black Book of Communism, published by Harvard University Press and considered one of the best sources on class-genocide in communist regimes, 20 million people were killed in the Soviet Union under Lenin and Stalin; 65 million people were killed under Mao Tse-tung in Communist China; 2 million killed in Cambodia under Pol Pot; and 150,000 killed in Latin America, most of the victims in Cuba, ruled by Fidel Castro.
Rev. Cruz fought against tyranny in Cuba, was arrested there and tortured. He fled the island in 1957 at age 18, and has since been a consistent critic of the Communist regime there imposed by dictator Fidel Castro.
Rev. Cruz eventually settled in Texas and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2005. His Dallas-based church also operates Christian ministries in Mexico and Central America. His wife, Eleanor Wilson Cruz, was born in Wilmington, Del.
