Although one of Donald Trump’s potential vice presidential contenders said on Sunday that he supported abortion – “I think women have to be able to choose” – he adjusted his position on Monday, saying he is “a pro-life Democrat.”
On ABC News Sunday, Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael Flynn told host Martha Raddatz that, “abortion, I think it’s a thing for women…. I think women have to be able to choose what they -- you know, that sort of the right of choice…. [Women are the] ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not.”
Yet in a Monday interview with Fox’s national security reporter Jennifer Griffin, she states that he told her he is “a pro-life Democrat,” and that the abortion law “should be changed.”
In a series of Tweets on Monday, Griffin further reported, “Mike Flynn tells me: ‘If people are going to decide election on abortion issue, they should just stay home.” Also, “@GenFlynn tells me ‘This pro-choice issue is a legal issue that should be decided by the courts. If people want to change the law, vote.’”
Griffin further reported that Flynn said his mother was pro-life and that, as a boy, he attended pro-life rallies.

Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael Flynn, 58, served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 2014. He is a former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and former chairman of the Military Intelligence Board.
