Tom Fitton, president of the government watchdog group Judicial Watch, said in a recent interview that "everyone in Washington, D.C. knows there's no Russia collusion" with the 2016 Trump campaign, and they've known it for "at least a year." He added that because there is no evidence of collusion, Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe is effectively a "zombie investigation" -- it's dead but it keeps on wandering around.

During an interview with The Epoch Times at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Fitton was asked, “As far as I can tell – correct me if I’m wrong – there really is no evidence [of collusion], there’s nothing to substantiate any of this activity or justify any of this activity?”

Fitton said, “Well, as far as Russia collusion, everyone in Washington, D.C. knows there’s no Russia collusion, and they’ve known it for at least a year. This Mueller operation that has been allowed to continue, despite its core reason for being being disproven, it shows it’s a zombie investigation."

Fitton then commented on the political attacks against the Trump administration and how they don't let up, two years into his first term.

“It’s largely Democrats," he said. "The No. 2 at the Mueller investigation is a partisan for Hillary Clinton and an anti-Trumper. We have that from the documents we’ve uncovered.  So, it’s hard to tell where the Hillary Clinton campaign ended and the DOJ began and, frankly, the Mueller investigation."

"Look at the Cohen hearings," said Fitton.  "They had Hillary Clinton’s lawyer, or close associate, Lanny Davis, providing free legal advice to Michael Cohen as they trampled all over President Trump’s [2016 campaign] race."

Fitton then explained that because no evidence of collusion has surfaced, Trump's enemies are exploring other means to politically assault him and his administration.

Trump's opponents will say, said Fitton, "There’s no Russia collusion but we still want to impeach him. We don’t know what about, so let’s investigate his businesses because we don’t like President Trump. So therefore his businesses must have been engaged in some suspicious conduct."
