Mark Levin challenged Republicans in Congress on his nationally syndicated radio talk show “The Mark Levin Show” on Thursday evening, suggesting the GOP should reuse the Democrat’s tax record letter that was directed at President Trump and his accountants and instead direct new letters at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“But you see, now that they’ve already pierced the veil of attorney-client privilege, attorney work product and attorney-client confidentiality, they figure, ‘What the hell. Now let’s go after his accounting firm,’ and pierce all levels of protection that exist for any citizen of the United States,” stated Mark Levin. “This d--- letter, Republicans on Capitol Hill, listen to me now as I speak, this d--- letter should be used by you. Change the heading. Write it to Nancy Pelosi. Write it to Chuck Schumer. Write it to Stempy Hoyer. Write it to Clyburn. Write it to all of them. And tell them, ‘Okay, now we want the same thing from you – we want the same thing from you.’”

Mark Levin’s comments came after House Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee made a “new push for 10 years of Trump’s financial records,” directing a letter requesting documents from the tax and accounting firm Mazars USA. According to Politico, the letter asked “for documents this month related to Trump’s personal finances, with a particular focus on his failed bid to purchase the Buffalo Bills before he became president.” The request reportedly “reflects an effort by the committee, under Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), to corroborate aspects of former Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen’s testimony before the panel last month.”

Below in pertinent part is a transcript of Mark Levin’s remarks from his show:

“But let’s go back because they’re very interested in Donald Trump’s finances. He’s a successful man. He’s got complex business activities going on, and they want to destroy him.

“‘With respect to Donald Trump,’ comes the letter, ‘and Donald Trump Revocable Trust, the Trump Organization [Inc.], the Trump Organization LLC, the Trump Corporation, DJT Holdings LLC, the Trump Old Post Office LLC, the Trump Foundation and any parent, subsidiary, affiliate, joint venture, predecessor or successor of the foregoing … .’

“This is your Congress.  They have absolutely no authority under Article I to do any of this. What do they want?

“Number one: ‘All statements of financial condition, annual statements, periodic financial reports and independent auditors’ reports prepared, compiled, reviewed or audited by [you, the accountant, or your] predecessor … ;’ Can you imagine?

“‘Without regard to time, [without regard to time,] all engagement agreements or contracts related to the preparation, compilation, review, or auditing of the items described in … Number 1;

“‘All underlying, supporting, or source documents and records used in the preparation, compilation, review, or auditing of items described in Request Number 1, or any summaries of such documents and records relied upon, or any requests for such documents and records.’

“You remember Adam Schiff hired one of the clowns, the former federal prosecutors, who was yapping away on MSNBC? Well, it’s quite obvious that the House Oversight and Reform Committee has done the same thing. This is like a subpoena for records against a mobster. This is why I’m reading this to you, so you can see what your president has to put up with. And again, they didn’t send it to him. They sent it to his accounting firm.

“What else do they want? Listen to this. ‘All memoranda, notes, and communications related to the preparation—’ This is when he was a private citizen, ladies and gentlemen. ‘… related to the preparation, compilation, review, or auditing of the items described in Request Number 1, including, but not limited to: all communications between Donald Bender and Donald J. Trump or any employee or representative of the Trump Organization—[any employee or representative of the Trump Organization; and] all communications related to potential concerns that records, documents, explanations, or other information, including significant judgments, provided by Donald [J.] Trump or other individuals form … Trump Organization, were incomplete, inaccurate, or otherwise unsatisfactory.’

“Those of you who need an accountant to do your taxes like I do, because I don’t want to make a mistake, you might say, ‘Well, I don’t know about this. Do I need to get that? What about this?’ These are questions you ask your accountant.

“But you see, now that they’ve already pierced the veil of attorney-client privilege, attorney work product and attorney-client confidentiality, they figure, ‘What the hell. Now let’s go after his accounting firm,’ and pierce all levels of protection that exist for any citizen of the United States. This d--- letter, Republicans on Capitol Hill, listen to me now as I speak, this d--- letter should be used by you. Change the heading. Write it to Nancy Pelosi. Write it to Chuck Schumer. Write it to Stempy Hoyer. Write it to Clyburn. Write it to all of them. And tell them, ‘Okay, now we want the same thing from you – we want the same thing from you.’”
