Hollywood actress, Christian, and film producer Roma Downey has tweeted to Secretary of State John Kerry, asking Kerry to declare that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is committing genocide against Christians in the Middle East.

On March 14 the U.S. House of Represenatives voted 393 to 0 in favor of a resolution declaring that ISIL is committing “genocide” against Christians, Yezidis and other religious minorities in the Middle East. Kerry faces a legal deadline of March 17 to declare whether ISIL is committing genocide.

On March 15 Downey tweeted: "Dear @JohnKerry: The US House of Representatives just passed the Genocide resolution, unanimously, 393 to 0! Will you do your part, now?"

Downey is the former star of the show "Touched by an Angel." Her latest project is a remake of the film "Ben-Hur."
