Conservative radio host Mark Levin said Thursday that if a government can implement a mask mandate, its power is unlimited.
Levin began the segment by playing the audio of a 60 Minutes interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci from March 8, during which Fauci recommended that Americans not wear masks.
The radio host focused on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s call for a three-month mask mandate.
“It’s so absurd. He has no constitutional authority to mandate it. And this is what worries me,” Levin said.
“The government that has the power to mandate that you wear a mask, even though the science doesn't compel it, when you are outside, no matter the conditions, no matter the social distancing, no matter the environment, is a government that’s power is limited how?" he asked. "How is that power limited in any respect? It’s not."
Levin issued a grave warning to his audience: “And you know, as we like to talk about around here, it’s the little things you better watch out for because if they can mandate and control, or make illegal the little things in your life, then they definitely can mandate, control, and make illegal the big things in your life."
“If they really believe in their radical, non-scientific attempt to control society through masks of all things, then Fauci needs to be fired."
Below is a transcript of the segment:
Mark Levin: Cut 21, Anthony Fauci, go.
Dr. Anthony Fauci: Right now in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks.
60 Minutes Host: You’re sure of it, because people are listening really closely to this.
Fauci: No. Right now, people should not be walking around, there’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it's not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And often, there are unintended consequences, people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.
Host: And can you get some schmutz, sort of staying inside there?
Fauci: Of course, of course. But when you think "masks," you should think of healthcare providers needing them and people who are ill.
Levin: So that's what the president was told and the whole nation was told on March 8, and notice Joe Biden doesn’t condemn Anthony Fauci, the number one infectious scientist in the federal government for almost half a century. Apparently they were both wrong: you don’t need to wear a mask all the time while you are outside. Should farmers wear masks all the time even though nobody is around them?
It’s so absurd. He has no constitutional authority to mandate it. And this is what worries me. I ask you a simple question. The government that has the power to mandate that you wear a mask, even though the science doesn't compel it, when you are outside, no matter the conditions, no matter the social distancing, no matter the environment, is a government that’s power is limited how? How is that power limited in any respect? It’s not.
And you know, as we like to talk about around here, it’s the little things you better watch out for because if they can mandate and control, or make illegal the little things in your life, then they definitely can mandate, control, and make illegal the big things in your life.
So there's no science that I am aware of, Columbia or no Columbia, that supports the idea that on every occasion, every citizen, everywhere in the United States, must wear a mask and if we do so 40,000 lives will be saved in the next three months.
This is hocus pocus, this is flat-earth stuff, and if anyone's to blame from the Biden camp and the Harris camp on the mask issue, it should be Anthony Fauci. If they really believe in their radical, non-scientific attempt to control society through masks of all things, then Fauci needs to be fired.
