Rep. Luis Gutierrez’ (D-Ill.) official congressional website is offering downloads of “Do not deport me” cards.

Gutierrez’s congressional homepage, www.gutierrez.house.gov, is currently featuring a video on his “Family Defender Toolkit.” The toolkit includes a downloadable card that says, “Do not deport me because I am eligible for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or DAPA (Deferred Action for Parental Accountability).”

“I created this toolkit for you to protect yourself from deportation,” Gutierrez says in the video describing the download available on his congressional website.

Gutierrez is offering the toolkit in anticipation of President Obama’s executive actions on DACA and DAPA, which have been stayed by a court injunction.

“Even though you cannot apply yet for the expanded DACA and the new DAPA program that were announced by the President on November 20, 2014, you can still prepare.”

The Democrat asks for people to gather the important information that they will need to apply for DACA or DAPA and to keep them in “a safe place.”

“I want you to cut the card in the toolkit and keep it in your wallet, and use in cases of emergency,” Gutierrez says. “Use this card only if you are arrested and detained by an immigration official.”

“By using this card after you’ve been arrested or detained, you can explain that under the policy in place today, you should be released, because you’re not a priority for deportation.”

“I hope that you never have to use this card but if you do, don’t be scared, because you’re prepared,” Gutierrez continues. “Soon enough the DACA and DAPA applications will be available. When that time comes you will have everything you need to apply.”
