The latest video from the House Democratic Caucus aims to spell out why it’s important for Americans to become engaged with politics - but has some problems spelling “Democratic Caucus.”
Education and outreach, particularly to students, is the focus of a press conference video on dems.gov. A video that features Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) with the misspelled title, “Chairman, House Democrattic Caucus.”
The video also includes Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) referring to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) as a “Congresswoman.”
The video was published April 22 and is featured on dems.gov as of the time of this post. It's titled “House Democrats Unveil Outreach Plan to Build On Our Legacy, Embrace the Future” and features the press conference announcing the task force and their focus on youth.
“This task force is something that we’ll be working on throughout the country to ensure that the American people - particularly, people from traditionally underserved and under-represented communities, our young people at the high school and the college level, many of whom hopefully will be participating civically for the first time, we want them to understand what Congress can do for America and what Congress should be doing,” Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.) said.
Rep. Pelosi thanked those who organized the House Democratic Caucus meeting, “The highlight of which was Mr. (Jim) Clyburn’s presentation with Congresswoman Grace Meng, Congresswoman Hakeem Jefferies and Congressman Cedric Richmond.”
Oddly enough, this is not the first time Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has been referred to as a woman in a video for dems.gov. A video posted last April on their YouTube channel referred to Jeffries as “Congresswoman Hakeem Jeffries” in its description.
Minority Leader Pelosi's press release on the outreach plan does not include a timeframe on when the task force will be reaching out to high schools and colleges.
