“If you have voted conservative, you do not deserve to be resuscitated by the NHS,” a former nurse of England’s publicly-funded National Health Service said during a live televised debate on Monday.
‘And I am sorry, but if you have voted Conservative, you do not deserve to be resuscitated by the NHS,” former nurse Mirada Hughes declared while ranting to Host Jeremy Vine during a Channel 5 debate titled “Britain on the Brink.”
More than 14 million people voted conservative in the 2019 General Election, The Daily Mail notes. Hughes made the comment while complaining that nurses don't have enough resources to compassionately care for their patients:
“When you sign up to be a nurse, you sign up to put the patient at the forefront of everything you do. You are squeezed to the point where you cannot treat people, the way you need to treat them. And it eats you up, because you are there to do a job as a compassionate person, but there are no resources.”
After being challenged by the incredulous host, Hughes eventually backed off and said that “of course” she would resuscitate a conservative.
