It’ll be the end of the Trump Presidency and the end of their party – and deservedly so – if Republicans give in to Democrats refusing to fund construction of a border wall, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned his colleagues Tuesday.

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program following President Donald Trump’s address to the nation regarding the threat of illegal immigration and the partial government shutdown over border wall funding, Sen. Graham said the only way Republicans can lose is if they surrender.

But, if they do undercut Pres. Trump by giving in, they’ll be finished, Sen. Graham warned:

“To my Republican colleagues: This is the best chance we’ll ever have to help President Trump get border wall funding, steel barrier funding, and at the same time, fix the loopholes.

“The only way we’ll lose is to give in. If we stand firm, put bills on the table that make sense, we will win this on behalf of the American people.

“But, if we undercut the president, that’s the end of his presidency, and the end of our party - and we deserve to be punished if we give in now.”

At issue is a clash of worldviews, Sen. Graham said, because Democrats view border security – not drug dealers and terrorists – as the problem to be solved:

“You’re dealing with a group of people who see their government as the problem. They see the border patrol agent as the problem, not the mob.

“They see the ICE agent as the problem, not the illegal immigrant they’re trying to go after.

“They see walls that already exist as amoral, excuse me, immoral.

“You know what I think is immoral? It’s to accuse people trying to defend a nation – honestly and working hard and putting their lives at risk – of being the problem, and not the coyote, not the drug dealer, not the terrorist.

“So, if Democrats want a fight, they’re going to get one. If they want to solve the problem, we’ll do that, too.”
