“The job of the military is to kill the bad guys,” not “sit around a circle, emoting and passing daisies back and forth,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said, reacting to new “woke” recruitment ads, such as one featuring a soldier raised by a lesbian couple.

“What we're seeing is Democratic politicians and these woke lefty bureaucrats and lefty media reporters trying to destroy the American military, trying to turn it into, frankly, a bunch of pansies,” Sen. Cruz said Friday in an interview with Fox News Channel:

“Look, it's ridiculous, and the men and women of our military, our soldiers and sailors and airmen and Marines are the toughest, most ferocious, and effective fighting force on the face of the planet. They are the reason we are free. They are the reason we have our rights.

“And what we're seeing is Democratic politicians and these woke lefty bureaucrats and lefty media reporters trying to destroy the American military, trying to turn it into, frankly, a bunch of pansies.”

“What they’re doing is profoundly dangerous,” Sen. Cruz warned:

“The job of the military is to kill the bad guys. And it is to strike fear in the enemies of America. People sign up to join the military because they want to keep us safe, they don't want to sit around a circle, emoting and passing daisies back and forth. They want to train to defeat the enemies and protect America. That's what our military should be doing.

“The Democrats and the media, what they're doing is profoundly dangerous and it's profoundly disrespectful.”

Both the U.S. Army and the CIA have come under fire for running liberal, “woke” recruitment ads, Fox News reports:

“The U.S. Army gave the CIA a run for its money earlier this month with the release of a new "woke" animated, fairytale-style, recruitment ad that tells the story of a current Army corporal with two moms who married after one of them survived a severe car accident.

“The May 4 video comes as part of the Army's new recruitment campaign, "The Calling," which depicts the diverse stories of five different service members. The video comes after the Central Intelligence Agency faced backlash for a series of "woke" recruitment ads as the two agencies look to expand their applicant pool.”
