Evangelical leader Rev. Franklin Graham applauded news that a Roman Catholic priest denied Holy Communion to Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden on Sunday because of former Vice President Biden’s support of abortion.

Rev. Graham took to Twitter Tuesday to praise the courage of Father Robert E. Morey of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Florence, South Carolina, who turned away Biden at Sunday’s 9 a.m. mass:

“Democratic presidential hopeful @JoeBiden was denied communion by a priest in SC over the weekend because of his pro-abortion stance. I applaud the fact that this priest did what he thought was right at the risk of possible public or political ire.”

Graham called on all clergy to fight against abortion in spite of public opinion because, “No matter how society paints the lie, abortion is murder in the eyes of God”:

“I wish more churches, pastors & priests would take a strong stand against abortion. Sometimes the role of addressing hard truths has been set aside in the church in an attempt to accommodate culture. No matter how society paints the lie, abortion is murder in the eyes of God.”
