“I continue to try to get our Republicans to wake up in the Capitol” and stop talking to the “vicious” liberal media, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Thursday in an interview on "The Ingraham Angle."
Discussing Thursday’s media attacks on President Donald Trump – such as MSNBC claiming he’s part of “a mafia family” – following a press event in which Trump discussed his impeachment ordeal and acquittal, Nunes told Host Laura Ingraham that Trump’s “most important” accomplishment as president has been exposing the media “assassins.”
And, having been exposed by Trump, liberal media have now given up even trying to hide their true colors, Nunes said:
“The most important thing that the president has done, of all the things that he’s done that are very important – but, he’s finally outed the media.
“The media in this town has been corrupt – and it took somebody like Trump to finally bring them out of their shell to where, now, they’ll just openly go out.
“They’ll tweet about it late at night. They get drunk, they send drunk tweets out. And, they’re vicious to him and Republicans. And, I continue to try to get our Republicans to wake up in the Capitol.
“We should not be talking to the mainstream media. They are assassins. They are working for the other team.”
“He’s had just about enough of it, and I can tell you that I’ve had just about enough of it,” Ingraham said in defense of the times Trump unleashed Thursday against his persecutors in the media and in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives:
“This has been built up over four, four and a half years, of what they’ve done to him since he announced in 2015 that he was running. And, he’s had just about enough of it, and I can tell you I’ve had just about enough of it.
“I’m all for a vigorous debate, when things get tough, big deal – no problem. But, when you say you’re guilty of treason, you’re working for Vladimir Putin, you’re running a criminal enterprise, and you go after Melania and you go after his kids who gave up their own cushy life, who are working in the White House.”
“When they run out of ideas, they go to Russia,” Nunes agreed, adding “They never stop blaming Russia”:
“One thing we know: when they run out of ideas, they go to Russia, okay. Even today, in the Capitol, right across the street here, we had one of the Democrats in a committee hearing actually float the idea that the reason the Iowa debacle’s going on, possible, could be because of the Russians. It’s incredible. They never stop blaming Russia.”
