MRC’s Bozell: Facebook’s Response to Bias Claims Is ‘Empty and Insulting’

Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell issued the following statement on Tuesday regarding former Senator Jon Kyl’s interim report on Facebook’s anti-conservative bias:

“Facebook refuses to publicly acknowledge that conservatives have been disproportionately affected by their content policies. We have waited over a year for Facebook to properly address the long list of issues raised by the conservative movement, but have received nothing of substance in return. The audit released today by former Senator Kyl is shamefully more of the same.

Kyl spoke with representatives from some 130 conservative organizations, but their complaints fell on deaf ears. While this audit may list some of the issues we’ve raised, it stunningly fails to admit fault or wrongdoing. The “changes and commitments” Facebook has proposed in response are empty and insulting.

We are set to meet with a group of distinguished attorneys to discuss issues relating to Big Tech's standing under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, along with other possible responses, including anti-trust proposals. Up until this point, we have attempted to work with Facebook to rectify these issues. Facebook and Senator Kyl have sent a message to the entire conservative movement that they do not take our concerns seriously and have zero intention to change.

I will say I never expected this. Those who told me working with Facebook was a fool's errand appear to be having the last word.”
