Outgoing Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Richard Grenell told House Intelligence Committee Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) Friday that, when more information from the committee’s investigation of Pres. Trump is released, it’ll show that the congressmen went on television and made claims he knew weren’t true.

In a heated exchange on Twitter, Grenell and Swalwell exchanged accusations that the other was deceiving the public.

First, Rep. Swalwell – a member of the committee chaired by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) that investigated Trump – accused Grenell and newly-confirmed DNI John Ratcliffe of “burying evidence” against Trump. Grenell replied that it was Swalwell who was publicly contradicting the sworn testimony he had heard in the committee:

Rep. Swalwell: “Slight correction on your tweet: I trust FBI & Director Wray. I don’t trust @ODNIgov Directors @RichardGrenell or @RepRatcliffe. They’re the ones with the shovels burying evidence to protect @realDonaldTrump.

Richard Grenell: “I’m letting the public see more info. You are the one who worked to hide the information you didn’t like. You listened to multiple people in classified hearings say they had no evidence and yet go on TV and say the opposite. Transparency is now a must!”

Rep. Swalwell shot back that, if he had nothing to hide, Grenell should release former National Security Adviser General Michael Flynn’s phone call with Russia.

Grenell replied that, indeed, those transcripts “are coming” – and, when they are released, Rep. Swalwell should compare what they show with what Swalwell has been telling the public, because the results will be troubling:

Rep. Swalwell: “Thanks for showing up on Twitter. You never once came to brief the Intel Committee (First DNI Director who failed to do so). If you have nothing to hide, why don’t you release Flynn’s call with Russia? #ShowUsTheTape”

Grenell: “Those are coming. It’s very important for the public to see ALL of them. For too long the public has been misled. Just compare your committee’s transcripts to your public statements! #troubling”
