ForAmerica Pres. David Bozell

On Tuesday, in anticipation of final passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, ForAmerica President David Bozell issued a statement touting the tax reform plan’s benefits.

“The American people should be pleased to see the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act cross the finish line. Congratulations to the Trump Administration and Congress on their accomplishment,” Bozell said.

Bozell declared the bill “a home run for the middle class,” as well as for small businesses:

“The lowering of the corporate rate alone will be transformational and will cause the economy to take off. The bill is a home run for the middle class because it doubles the standard deduction for married couples, and gives small businesses a 20 percent income deduction.”

The bill will also benefit parents and education, Bozell said:

“This tax bill is a huge win for Senator Ted Cruz who successfully passed an amendment that will boost both the School Choice effort and economic prosperity for the next generation. Parents now can expand their 529 Savings Plans to include K-12 and secondary education – a legislative slam dunk for American families who simply want to save for a better education for their kids.”

Additionally, Bozell said, the tax reform bill even repeals the Affordable Care Act’s (Obamacare’s) controversial individual mandate - which requires all Americans to purchase health care insurance even if they don’t want or need it - making good on one of Republicans' main campaign promises:

“Finally, through all of Congress’ fits and starts, they have managed to repeal Obamacare’s individual mandate, delivering on one of their central promises of the past four election cycles.”
