Media and Big Tech suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal marked the death of journalism, former Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said Friday.

“There was not a fair fight here,” Collins said, in an interview on Fox Business' “Mornings with Maria”:

“Big Tech censored it. The New York Times ignored it. The liberal media did not want you to know what was going on with the Biden sort of syndicate here with Hunter and his dad and others.”

“And now we have this coming out 16 months later, and again, they still treat it as if it's an afterthought. They still treat it as if it's something wrong,” Collins said, in reaction to news this week that The New York Times finally conceded that the laptop containing scandalous material did, indeed, belong to Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden.

In October of 2020, when Joe Biden was the Democrat candidate for president, The New York Post broke the story of the laptop – only to have it ignored and denied by liberal media and censored from social media.

“This is sort of the death of journalism,” Collins said, when asked about media suppression of the Hunter Biden story:

“This is why people are not trusting the media and why they’re becoming so cynical in our country, because they see people get away with things they should never have gotten away with.”

The result of the 2020 presidential election might have been different, if the American people had been made aware of the Hunter Biden scandal, Collins suggested:

“It's just amazing what has happened. We've been talking about this for years. But, I just have this one thought: if we had the opportunity, which we all knew was there, and the American public had seen what was going on on this laptop, which is now – they are finally deciding that it is truthful – what could that have meant for those folks when they had a determination of, 'Do I want Joe Biden as president?'”

Indeed, a post-election poll from the Media Research Center (MRC), conducted by McLaughlin & Associates in November of 2020, reveals that 36% of Biden voters were not aware of the evidence linking Joe Biden to corrupt financial dealings with China through his son Hunter. Thirteen percent of these voters (or 4.6% of Biden’s total vote) say that – had they known these facts – they would not have voted for the former Vice President.

Such a shift away from Biden would have meant President Trump would have won the election with 289 electoral votes, MRC’s NewsBusters division explained in an article presenting the survey results.
