The U.S. Dept. of Defense (DoD) has re-released a “DoD Presents” video announcing Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender to the Allies, signifying the end of World War II in Europe, on May 8, 1945.

Seventy-two years ago this week, the Allies were victorious and the war ended in Europe (V-E Day). The victory was reported to the nation in a “DoD Presents” news film, which was posted on Twitter Monday to celebrate the historic day.

Watch Allied troops perform “a symbolic gesture” of victory.
