President Donald Trump’s campaign raised approximately $24.8 million in less than 24 hours, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced on Wednesday.
“@realDonaldTrump has raised a record-breaking $24.8M in less than 24 hours for his re-election. The enthusiasm across the country for this President is unmatched and unlike anything we’ve ever seen! #trump2020 #KeepAmericaGreat," McDaniel tweeted.
President Trump retweeted her announcement and thanked the supporters Wednesday. "THANK YOU! #Trump2020," he tweeted.
The fundraising milestone comes off his official reelection campaign holding its first major rally of the 2020 Trump campaign on Tuesday, in Orlando, Fla. where the president announced his intention to seek a second term to the delight of a sold-out crowd in the Amway Center.
“Tonight I stand before you to officially launch my campaign for a second term as president of the United States,” Trump said.
What is most remarkable about Trump’s single-day haul is the fact that his fundraising numbers dwarf other major campaigns among his Democratic opponents.
Compared to his $24.8 million, other one-day hauls include former VP Joe Biden who brought in $6.3 million and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), raising close to $6 million. Conversely, by the president’s war chest, he raised more than a million dollars every hour on the hour for the entirety of the day.
