( - Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D.-Mass.) on Sunday tweeted out a Huffington Post story that attacks Christian schools that engage in what Warren characterized as “anti-LGBTQ+ policies” such as making students use the restrooms and locker rooms that are consistent with their biological sex.

The Huffington Post piece carries the headline: “An Under-The-Radar SCOTUS Case Could Obliterate The Line Between Church And State.”

“The program at the center of Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, which the Supreme Court is hearing later this month, provided tax credits to individuals and corporations that donated to private schools and scholarship groups,” said the Huffington Post.

The Huffington Post then describes as "public funding" private donations that are eligible for a tax credit.

“A previous HuffPost investigation found that at least 14% of private religious school around the country that received public funding like the one in Montana actively discriminate against LGBTQ staff and employees. In the Montana tax credit program, these number are even higher,” says the Huffington Post.

The Huffington Post then goes on to cite on Christian school in Montana that “says in its handbook that ‘God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman.’ It also says that ‘students and campus visitors must use restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities conforming with their biological sex.”

It cites another Christian school, for example, that “says on its statement of faith it believes that ‘God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and woman who are married to each other’ and ‘immutably created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex.’”

In her tweet of this story, Warren says: “States should focus on funding public school, not private ones—especially not ones that maintain anti-LGBTQ+ policies. We must ensure that every kid—especially LGBTQ+ kids—can get a high quality education.”
