(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Ilhan Omar (D.-Minn.) tweeted out a CNN story on Saturday that claimed “wildfires and floods cost the world $150 billion in 2019.”
“Inaction on climate change,” Omar said in her tweet, “won’t just be costly in dollars—it will cost us our planet.”
“This is not a drill,” she said. “We’ve got to pass a #GreenNewDeal.”
On her official congressional website, Omar has a page that carries the headline “Environmental Justice.”
“We are in a climate crisis,” Omar says on this page. “With increased natural disasters, a warming planet, and an Administration that prioritizes corporate interests over our communities, we need large scale action to combat climate change and ensure everyone has access to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment.
“In Congress,” she says, “my top environmental priority is addressing climate change and helping our country reduce its carbon footprint by transitioning away from a reliance on fossil fuels and moving towards a 100% clean energy economy.”
“I oppose fossil fuel infrastructure projects that perpetuate environmental racism—the disproportionate pollution and environmental degradation experienced by communities of color and indigenous communities,” she said.
