(CNSNews.com) – Republicans got part of what they demanded, when Democrats held public hearings featuring some of the witnesses who appeared first behind closed doors.
“I hope that they have more hearings,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the House intelligence committee told “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo.
Well, the good thing is, is that all the networks covered it. So -- and I mean not just the cable news networks, the cable news shows, but all the networks. So the Republicans, House Republican got more airtime in less than two weeks then we have gotten in the last two decades.
And so for the first time, the American people have been able to see that House Republicans are not only serious legislators, we're competent, and it's probably the first time that many Americans, especially independents, who watch the major networks and don't really watch cable news, it's probably the first time that they actually realized that this whole Russia thing was a hoax, and Ukraine thing is a hoax, and the Democrats are a joke.
This is a disaster for them. And they got to see what the House -- the House Republicans -- I'm -- obviously, I'm the leader there.
But I'm really proud of what they have done over the last three years.
We have done really tough work, working in the trenches, with the media running cover for the Democrats. And they got exposed over the last two weeks. So if -- this was nothing but a total disaster for them.
And I hope that they have more hearings.
On another topic, Bartiromo asked Nunes about an allegation made by the attorney for Lev Parnas, the indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani.
Parnas reportedly will say that Nunes met with Victor Shokin, the Ukrainian prosecutor-general fired after Vice President Biden demanded it. Nunes, the report says, met with Shokin to discuss an investigation of the Bidens.
On Sunday, Nunes called it a “fake news story.”
And so what we're going to do -- I gave a statement out on Friday night -- we are going to take both CNN and The Daily Beast likely into federal court right after Thanksgiving. And we hope they cooperate, because we're also going to be working with the appropriate law enforcement authorities, because it is not OK to work with someone who has been indicted on serious federal crime to build a media narrative and dirty up a member of Congress.
So, look, Maria, you have seen it. The American people seen it over the last three years. We out them, and then they come out with a media narrative to try to dirty up the people who are doing the work on behalf of the American people.
So, we hope that CNN and Daily Beast will cooperate with the court. They will -- they should comply with the subpoenas once we file this and go through for deposition. Should be fun.
Bartiromo asked Nunes, “Bottom line, were you in Vienna with Shokin?”
“Yes, so, look, Maria, I really want to answer all of these questions,” Nunes said.
And I promise you I absolutely will come back on the show and answer these questions. But because there is criminal activity here -- we're working with the appropriate law enforcement agencies. We're going to file all this. Everyone's going to know the truth. Everybody's going to know all the facts.
But I think you can understand that I can't compete by trying to -- trying to debate this out with the public media when 90 percent of the media are totally corrupt.
And because this is criminal in nature, and because it's so bad, it's so slanderous, we have got all the facts on our side. And we're going to file in federal court, because I'm not going to sit here and try to compete against the media that I have no chance of winning with.
I will win in court, and they will have a chance to cooperate. And they will have to show how they worked with somebody who's been indicted, which is likely conspiring to obstruct justice here.
Nunes did say, “None of this is true… it's demonstrably false. We will get to all the facts when it's filed in court."
