Government Jobs -6,000 in November

(CNSNews.com) - Total government jobs in the United States declined by 6,000 last month, dropping from 22,384,000 in October to 22,378,000 in November, according to the monthly employment data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

While the federal government and local governments increased employment during the month, the decline in state government employment exceeded the combined increases from the federal and local levels.

In October, according to BLS, state governments employed 5,128,000. In November, that dropped to 5,115,000—a decline of 13,000 jobs.

Federal employment climbed from 2,801,000 in October to 2,804,000 in November—an increase of 3,000 jobs.

Local government employment climbed from 14,455,000 in October to 14,459,000 in November—an increase of 4,000 jobs.
