( – President Trump interrupted his speech in Mandan, North Dakota on Wednesday to single out his eldest daughter.

He was talking about North Dakota being an example for the nation: “This state is a reminder of what can happen when we promote American jobs instead of obstructing American jobs, which has been happening, believe me,” Trump said.

Then he got distracted:

“And by the way, Ivanka Trump? Everybody loves you. Come up, honey. Should I bring Ivanka up?” he asked the crowd.

“Sometimes they'll say, you know, he can't be that bad a guy. Look at Ivanka. No, come on up, honey. She's so good. She wanted to make the trip.

“She said, ‘Dad, can I go with’-- She actually said, ‘Daddy, can I go with you?’ I like that, right? ‘Daddy, can I go with you?’

“I said, ‘Yes, you can.’

“‘Where are you going?’

“‘North Dakota.’ (She) said, ‘Oh, I like North Dakota.’

“Hi, honey,” Trump said as Ivanka joined him. He indicated that she should say a few words.

“Hi, North Dakota,” she said, laughing. “We love this state. So it’s always a pleasure to be back here.

“You treated us very, very well in November, and have continued to, so – we
like showing the love back. Thank you.”

As Ivanka turned to walk off the stage, her father motioned her back for a kiss.

“And she means it, believe me,” President Trump told the crowd, referring to Ivanka's comments about North Dakota. He then picked up his speech where he left off.
