(CNSNews.com) - At the end of a news conference on Wednesday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, declared President Trump to be the "enemy" of his party.

"Let me make one concluding observation about the way forward," Hakeem said in his final remark. "The House Democratic Caucus is a diverse family. We are a passionate family. We are a large family. We will remain united in the face of a common enemy named Donald J. Trump. Thank you, everyone."

Jeffries later tweeted those exact same words:

In response to his tweet, a number of people demanded that the House launch impeachment proceedings.

One respondent wrote, "The word 'enemy' is the correct word. Thank you for using it."
