WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will address more than 1,000 graduating cadets at West Point's commencement ceremony.

The U.S. Military Academy graduates will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army in a ceremony featuring a speech by Adm. Mike Mullen Saturday morning at the academy's football stadium.

Mullen has served as the chairman since 2007. He's scheduled to retire at the end of September.

First lady Michelle Obama addressed the graduating cadets at a banquet Friday night. She urged the future officers to keep in mind the families of the soldiers they will lead.
