(CNSNews.com) – Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, president and founder of Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND), said Monday on “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV that Michael Brown is to blame for his own death and that his parents should be “embarrassed” because they did not raise him right.

“I may be the only one in America who does not grieve for Michael Brown’s parents. The reality is, Michael Brown is dead because of Michael Brown. It’s not Officer Darren Wilson’s fault,” Peterson said, referring to the Ferguson, Mo., police officer who was cleared by a grand jury of wrongdoing in the 18-year-old’s death.

Wilson recently resigned the police force, citing concerns that his presence might put his fellow officers and the community at risk, the Associated Press reported.

“Michael Brown was 18 years old. He robbed a convenience store. He attacked the clerk there, and he walked out of that store as a possible felon. He attacked the police officer, Officer Wilson, in his car. He tried to take his gun. The gun went off,” he said.

“Michael’s blood is all over the place, and according to the report and the witnesses, Michael - after running away from the officer - came back after him with a full force charge toward him, and so Michael Brown is dead because of Michael Brown,” Peterson said.

Furthermore, Peterson, a conservative civil rights activist and radio talk show host, called Brown’s parents “hypocrites” for calling Wilson a “murderer,” because they failed their son.

“His parents are hypocrites, because first of all, they didn’t raise Michael Brown in the right way. They failed him. They failed to raise a decent citizen, and so they’re partly responsible for the death of Michael Brown as well, and I have to tell you, the way the president, the attorney general, and these so-called civil rights leaders are carrying on is shameful,” Peterson said.

“Michael Brown’s parents should be shunned. They should be made to feel embarrassed for the way that they raised their son,” he said.

Peterson said what happened in Ferguson, which has prompted protests nationwide, could embolden “thugs” who will feel like they can harass the police, “fight with them, call them racists and get away with it.”

“If we don’t start dealing with the reality of what the situation’s all about, America’s setting up situations like this all over the country, because these thugs are gonna feel as though they can go out and harass officers, they can go out and fight with them, call them racists and get away with it, because no one in the black community for the most part are telling the truth about what really happened there,” Peterson said.

“And what you gotta do, Reverend, obviously is teach your kids – whether they’re black, white, yellow, green – is don’t fight with the cop. That goes without saying, you would think, but respect the police,” Malzberg said.

“I agree,” Peterson said.
