(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday that President Donald Trump has delivered on the promises he made to the American people.

In a statement following the president’s State of the Union address, Ryan said he agrees with Trump that “the state of our union is strong.”

“Faith and family are the rightful centers of American life. America’s economic confidence is on the rise. And from the police to the military, the bravery of our men and women in uniform continues to demonstrate why they are the world’s finest,” the speaker said.

He said Trump “has delivered on his promises - unleashing America’s energy potential, appointing judges who respect the Constitution, prioritizing religious freedom as an unwavering right, and passing historic tax and regulatory reforms.”

“These tax cuts are putting more money in people’s pockets and injecting new life into the economy. With fewer burdensome regulations, small businesses have greater optimism and opportunities to grow. And with the landmark veterans reforms, we are ensuring those who have sacrificed and served are treated as the heroes they are,” Ryan said.

“There is still much work to be done, and the president laid out a clear agenda tonight with an open hand toward bipartisan cooperation. By working together to rebuild our nation’s military, boost infrastructure, develop our workforce, and fix our immigration system, we can continue making America safer and stronger for the 21st century," he said.
