(CNSNews.com) – Former CIA Director John Brennan has indicated he plans to sue President Donald Trump over revoking his security clearance, and President Donald Trump says, I dare you.
“I hope John Brennan, the worst CIA Director in our country’s history, brings a lawsuit. It will then be very easy to get all of his records, texts, emails and documents to show not only the poor job he did, but how he was involved with the Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt. He won’t sue!” Trump tweeted on Monday.
“Everybody wants to keep their Security Clearance, it’s worth great prestige and big dollars, even board seats, and that is why certain people are coming forward to protect Brennan. It certainly isn’t because of the good job he did! He is a political ‘hack,’” the president added.
Brennan told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Friday that he was contacted by lawyers about taking possible legal action against the president. Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Brennan was asked if it was something he was serious about.
“Well, I have been contacted by a number of lawyers, and they have already given me their thoughts about the basis for a complaint, an injunction to try and prevent him from doing this in the future,” Brennan said.
“If my clearances and my reputation, as I’m being pulled through the mud now, if that’s the price we’re going to pay to prevent Donald Trump from doing this against other people, to me it’s a small price to pay, so I am going to do whatever I can personally to try to prevent these abuses in the future, and if it means going to court, I will, I will do that,” he said.
NBC’s Chuck Todd asked, “And final question, you talked about this lawsuit, when would you make that decision, it sounds like you think -- if you thought a lawsuit could help prevent the revoking of other security clearances, you would do it. When do you make that decision?”
“Well I think there are a lot of people who are looking at this issue right now, I think I’m just one voice, one person, and so I’m going to be seriously looking at what those options are, and if my voice, if my name can help in this effort, I’m willing to do that,” Brennan said.
“I recognize I have a bullseye on my chest now, by all of those who are trying to defend Mr. Trump’s abhorrent behavior, but again I believe very strongly and I love this country, and I don’t want to see it go down because of someone like Mr. Trump who has failed to fulfill his responsibilities,” Brennan added.
