There is going to be a “God’s Not Dead 3.”
The news was confirmed to CNSNews.com by David A.R. White, a co-founder and partner of Pure Flix, the studio that distributed “God’s Not Dead” and “God’s Not Dead 2.” White is also an actor who appeared in both films and will appear in "God's Not Dead 3."
CNSNews.com: I have heard rumors there's going to be a "God’s Not Dead 3". Can you confirm that?
David A.R. White: You know what? Those rumors are correct as far as I know. Yes. We are working. I don’t know if you saw the Easter egg in "God’s Not Dead 2" by any chance. If you sat through the credits, there’s was that little scene on there that really leads into what "God’s Not Dead 3" is about. So yeah, we are in the planning stages for it. We’ve just been in a lot of prayer and trying to figure out exactly what God wants number 3 to be. Because you know we don't just want to just do what we want to do, we really want to follow where God is leading on these movies.
In 2014’s “God’s Not Dead” a Christian college student has his faith challenged by an atheist philosophy professor, but ultimately wins a debate about the existence of God. The film grossed over $62 million on a $2 million budget. It was followed “God’s Not Dead 2” in 2016, in which a teacher is sued for making a reference to Jesus in a history class about the history of non-violence.
In a post-credits scene in “God’s Not Dead 2,” White’s character, Pastor Dave, is arrested and told he will have to hand his sermons over to the police. As White told CNSNews.com, this hints at the plot of “God’s Not Dead 3.”
White is currently promoting his new book, Between Heaven & Hollywood: Chasing Your God-Given Dream."
