( – Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) told that he has “never had a negative interaction” working with Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the attorney general nominee of the Trump administration, when asked if he thought Sessions was a man of high character as he faced his first Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday.

Outside the hearing, asked Rubio, “A group of black pastors endorsed Jeff Sessions for attorney general yesterday, saying he is a kind and decent man who has worked relentlessly for desegregation and justice. As a colleague of Senator Sessions, do you agree he is a man of high character?”

Senator Rubio said, “Well I’ve worked with him for six years and have a good working relationship. I’ve never had a negative interaction with him anyway.”

“He has strong views on law and order, and obviously he has a lot of experience in legal matters, he was a prosecutor, an attorney general, and here in the Senate,” Rubio added.

Rubio concluded that he is “watching the hearing today, [and] I think he’s done quite well and we’ll probably have something to announce here in the next day or so.”
