Ben Carson: Liberals’ Failure to Control Courts Has Sent Them ‘Off the Deep End’

( -- The failure of liberals to take control of the U.S. court system has sent them “off the deep end,” former U.S. presidential candidate and former Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital Ben Carson told an audience at the Values Voter Summit on Friday.

Carson currently is the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a position he was appointed to by President Donald Trump in March 2017.

“The courts, they thought they had,” said Carson and the Family Research Council-sponsored event. “And they were snatched up under their noses in November of 2016. You know, they’re like red hornets, just completely lost control … and have gone off the deep end, and the further they get away from being able to control the courts, the more desperate they become.”

Carson’s remarks came in response to the chaos surrounding U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault by California psychology Prof. Christine Ford.

Ford accused Kavanaugh of groping her at a party when the two were in high school some 36 years ago. She has failed to produce any evidence or witnesses to support her allegation.

“I mean, if you really understand the big picture of what’s going on, then what’s going on with Judge Kavanaugh will make perfectly good sense to you, because you see, there have been people in this country for a very long time, go all the way back to the Fabians [socialists], who have wanted to fundamentally change this country,” Carson said.

The Fabian Society is a socialist think tank founded in Great Britain in 1884. The society holds the belief that “radical long-term goals are best advanced through empirical, practical, gradual reform,” and champions collectivism and a large welfare state.

Carson compared the Fabian Society to today’s left-wingers, who “want to change us to another system,” through excessive regulation, taxation, and government control of nearly all aspects of people’s lives.

“They don’t like who America is and what it represents and they want to change us to another system,” he said.

He asserted that to change the U.S. system of government, the Left must control three things: “the educational system, the media and the courts.”

“The first two, they have. The courts, they thought they had,” Carson said.

He explained that because liberals fear being unable to “control the courts for another generation,” they are creating “chaos and destruction” for Judge Kavanaugh and the Supreme Court confirmation process.

“And now they don’t see themselves as being able to control the courts for another generation,” Carson said. “So, what is left? Chaos and destruction.”

Ford waited to go public with her allegations until a few days before the Senate was scheduled to vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

After negotiating with Ford’s attorneys, the Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing for Ford and Kavanaugh to testify in open session, on camera, this Thursday, Sept. 27.
