Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s meeting with the leader of North Korea in pursuit North Korea’s denuclearization is, indeed, a step in the right direction.

CNSNews.com asked Scott to assess a joint statement by the two leaders advocating “complete denuclearization of the North Korean Peninsula”:

CNSNews.com: “At their summit in Singapore, President Trump and Kim Jong-Un signed a joint statement in which Kim said North Korea was committed ‘to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.’ Is this a step forward?”

Sen. Scott: “Is it a step forward that we are working towards denuclearization?”

CNSNews.com: “Correct.”

Sen. Scott: “The question is, ‘Is it a step forward that we’re working towards denuclearization?’

"The answer is yes.”
