( -- When asked about federal funding of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said we still need to get to the bottom of recent reports about the group harvesting and then apparently selling fetal body parts.

At the U.S. Capitol on July 22, asked Sen. Kaine,  “Planned Parenthood says it did more than 327,000 abortions in fiscal year 2013, and recent reports indicate Planned Parenthood doctors have harvested tissue from aborted babies. Should Congress cut off taxpayer subsidies to Planned Parenthood?”

Kaine said, “Some of the recent reports, there’s -- we still, still need to get to the bottom of them.”

Two undercover videos recently released by the Center of Medical Progress appear to show Planned Parenthood officials negotiating over the transfer of tissue and organs from aborted babies.

“I think there’s questions about the editing of the video. That’s still a little questionable,” Kaine said. “So we’ve got to get to the bottom of that before we make a decision about anything.”

According to its most recent financial report, for 2013-14,  Planned Parenthood received $528.4 million in government funding (grants and reimbursements) in 2014. In fiscal 2013, the organization performed 327,653 abortions, the report said.
