(CNSNews.com) - Former Super Bowl Champion NFL coach Tony Dungy sent out a tweet last week asking the Lord to heal America and praying that that would happen.

“Lord, right now our land is sick and we need healing,” Dungy said in his July 9 tweet.

“We need healing physically, emotionally, spiritually, racially, and economically,” Dungy said.

“Your word says if we pray you will heal our land,” he said. “But first WE have to repent and turn back to you.

“Lord, I pray that will happen,” Dungy said. “We need you!”

Dungy’s tweet included an image of a man kneeling and praying in front of a cross and an inscription from 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn away from their wicked ways,” says the Biblical passage, “then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
