If there is one thing that I appreciate about the progressive, socialist left in America is their clone-like thinking process. They remind me very much of the villains from “Star Trek: Next Generation,” the Borg. The Borg were cyber villains who had no individuality. They were a collective body, and everyone’s naming convention was based upon their number in the “collective” … 7 of 9. The Borg’s famous line was “Resistance is futile. You will assimilate.” And when you consider the way the left in America all parrot the same talking point incessantly, and repetitively, they are our present-day Borg. And last week, the left, once again, displayed their collective mindset.
It all began with one of the primary voices within the progressive, socialist left collective, Bill Maher. Maher infamously came out during one of his programs and ardently supported our nation going into a recession. Now, just so you know, here is the definition of a recession according to Google: “a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP [gross domestic product] in two successive quarters [six months]”. If you watch the clip, for Bill Maher, national economic ruin is acceptable if it leads to the defeat of President Donald Trump and the ascension of progressive socialist rule in America.
So, last week, and for the last couple of months, what was the incessant, repetitive theme or talking point for the progressive, socialist left – the Borg in America? “We are heading towards a recession.” Wherever you turned, that was the collective word of the left, and it was amplified in all the leftist media outlets. In other words, it appears the left wants us to return to massive unemployment, an economic downturn, loss of manufacturing and production jobs, and growth of the welfare state … just to beat President Trump and attain political power.
I can only describe this desire as delusional, deranged, dangerous, disturbing, disconcerting, and devious. And to believe that there are “news” media outlets who would advance this agenda is truly what threatens our constitutional republic. Yes, we all believe in the freedom of the press, but that is meant for a responsible, objective, and not ideological press. The leftist media in America has devolved into nothing more than a sounding platform for the collective mind of the Democratic [Socialist] Party.
How often do we hear the leftist media touting the strong fundamentals of our economy? I am quite sure our dear friends at the Media Research Center, where I am a Senior Fellow, can provide the detailed analysis. And I know the MRC can inform us as to how many days were spent harping on a recession for the American economy, as hoped for by the leftist media.
What is rather hypocritical, as are most things with the progressive, socialist left, was how the media covered for the abysmal economy of Barack Hussein Obama. Obama has gone down in history as the first president since the Great Depression to not achieve year-over-year GDP growth that topped three percent while in office, and we were told by the media that that was the new normal. For eight years, the leftist media told us the Obama economy was the fault of George W. Bush. Even after Obama’s reelection, where he inherited his own failing economy, we were told it was still Bush’s fault. And now, we are being told by the media that Trump’s economic success is because of Barack Obama. Yeah, I am confused as well. And our confusion comes since we all know that is was Obama who mocked Trump for having a “magic wand” to bring jobs back to America and truly grow the economy. And oh, by the way, the great recession of 2008 was the result of an insidious progressive socialist “participation trophy” policy from Jimmy Carter in 1978 called the Community Reinvestment Act. The equality of outcomes mentality of the left believing that every American had a right to own a home led to the economic crisis by way of failed mortgage backed securities and subprime lending.
Hmm, how many times did we hear the leftist media talk about that? Yes, just as many times as we heard them speak about Obamanomics being a blatant Keynesian economic model failure.
Our national economic strength is of no concern to the progressive, socialist left. They are driven by one goal, one objective, one purpose – power. And for the left to have power, they need to have victims. In a strong economy, as we are experiencing in America, we are producing victors, and that is the antithesis of leftism, collectivism, Marxism, socialism, and communism. So, what does the left hope for? The left hopes for economic ruin so that they can have victims, which in turn can be manipulated into economic dependence and servitude.
One need only look to Venezuela in order to realize what the progressive, socialist left desires. How else does one take one of the most prosperous nations in our hemisphere and turn it into economic ruin? Yes, socialism … the economic model of failure and shared misery. In the beginning, the left in America were all praising Hugo Chavez and hoping for such a socialist revolution in America. But now that we see the results in Venezuela, the leftists here are distancing themselves, not talking about Venezuela – certainly not the progressive, socialist leftist media.
People in Venezuela are starving, going to sewers for drinking water, dying due to a lack of medical supplies, hunted down and killed in the streets by government-backed armed thugs and run down by military vehicles … after all, they have been disarmed. And according to Bill Maher, this is all acceptable since there is a socialist in power.
Is this acceptable to you? It is repulsive to me.
