Christian evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham is launching a nationwide tour to call on Christians to get involved in the 2016 election by praying and voting, because “our country is in trouble” and “without God there is no hope.”
“Our country is in trouble,” Graham said in the video posted on the billygraham.org website announcing the “Decision America Tour,” which will stage prayer rallies in the capitol city of all 50 states next year.
“Many people look at capitols like this -- whether it’s Washington, whether it’s state level – they’re looking for answers to the problems that they have in life, but I can tell you right now without God there’s no hope,” said Graham, who is president and CEO of his father’s Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the international Christian relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse.
“We’re asking people to pray, to vote for biblical principles and to engage in your community by living and sharing your faith,” Graham said in the video.
“I believe this next election may be the most important election maybe in the history of our nation,” he said, noting that Christians who engage and vote can have an “impact” on the results of that election.
Graham said that the campaign is not endorsing any particular candidate or supporting any political party.
“We’re going to pray for our nation, and I’m going to encourage Christians to stand up and let their voice be heard,” Graham said.
