On his nationally syndicated radio talk show Tuesday, host Mark Levin said that the media’s overreaction to President Trump’s comments in Helsinki “is sick stuff” and “absolutely nuts.”
“And his [President Trump’s] enemies—of the hard left, of the ‘never-Trumpers,’ even in the Republican Party, but certainly in the vast majority of the media—whether it’s this or Stormy Daniels or whatever it is, they don’t let go,” stated Mark Levin. “Last week, the president was running, apparently, Nazi internment camps and Japanese concentration camps. This is sick stuff. The overreaction is absolutely nuts.”
Mark Levin’s comments came after President Trump and Vladimir Putin held a press conference in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday and after Trump, according to CNSNews.com, “clarified his comments on the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election, saying that he agrees with their conclusion,” on Tuesday.
Below is a transcript of Mark Levin’s remarks on his show Tuesday:
“I didn’t think it was that big a deal. What the president said, in some respects, deserve criticism, but he didn’t get criticism. He got ‘Pearl Harbor,’ and ‘Kristallnacht’ and ‘9/11.’ ‘He’s a traitor,’ they said. ‘He’s committed treason,’ they said. ‘He should be impeached.’ ‘He’s un-American.’ Do those sound like rational responses to the press conference that took place in Helsinki? The president’s critics have gone much further than the president did. And today he clarified what he was saying.
“Does anybody really believe, that given what Trump has done with Russia, that he’s sold out to Russia? And so, we hang on his every syllable, whether it’s a tweet, or it’s a press conference. And his enemies—of the hard left, of the never-Trumpers, even in the Republican Party, but certainly in the vast majority of the media—whether it’s this or Stormy Daniels or whatever it is, they don’t let go.
“Last week, the president was running, apparently, Nazi internment camps and Japanese concentration camps. This is sick stuff. The overreaction is absolutely nuts.
“And then there are some conservatives—pseudo-conservatives, in some cases—who think this is the moment to build their credibility, to show that they can criticize Trump, and at the same time criticize the left, because they’re objective analysts. That’s okay. I’m a principled conservative, and that’s how I come at this. I don’t know what an objective analyst is. I know what principles are.
“And so, I look at this in the big scheme of things, and I hear that John McCain—God bless him—has said this is pretty much the worst a president has ever done with the Russians. Now that’s absolutely nuts!”
