Multinational retail giant Walmart is now promoting homosexuality with a Facebook ad that follows two gay men -- "Pat" and "Andy" -- on a blind date shopping at a Walmart store. The video ad is entitled "Love is in the Aisle: A Dating Show at Walmart."
The American Family Association (AFA), which has launched a petition to have the video removed and called upon the corporation to stay neutral on homosexuality, said, "In a move that most Christians probably never expected to see, retail giant Walmart has posted an online video that normalizes homosexual relationships.”
"For most Christians and other traditionalists, the idea that marriage is between a man and a woman is sacred," said the AFA. "We've seen many large corporations reject that in their marketing, but I honestly never thought Walmart would join the cultural revolution and reject the beliefs of its customer base.”
“It's clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” said the AFA.
In the video, Pat and Andy meet for their shopping date at a Walmart. When Pat first meets Andy, he exclaims, "Oh, my god, you're handsome," and the two men then hug.
"They're going on a blind date at their local Walmart to see if love is in the aisle," states the video.
The two young men wander down several aisles and discuss products to purchase, such as scented candles, soap, and a cast iron skillet. "Every man should have one of these in their kitchen," says Pat.
At the video's end, Pat declares, "I really don't know why, but I like Andy." Andy replies, "Grocery shopping is usually a chore, but Pat made it fun. And I would very much like to go shopping with him again sometimes.”
"See, sometimes trying something new just pans out," states the video at the end of the "episode."
AFA Vice President Buddy Smith told OneNewsNow, "We're very disappointed in Walmart with this video that's actually two-and-a-half minutes long; so it's not just a few seconds of an ad that normalizes homosexual relationships.”
“We believe it's a very dangerous lifestyle,” he said, “and the fact that Walmart would release this kind of video is even more in the face of Christian people who believe in God's design for human sexuality."
In its petition to Walmart President Doug McMillon, the AFA says, “Walmart’s shift away from neutrality on this controversial issue to full support for same sex relationships is something Sam Walton would never have approved of.
“I urge you, Mr. McMillon, to return Walmart back to its founding principles by removing the pro-homosexual video and agreeing to remain neutral on the controversial issue of homosexuality.”
Commenting further, AFA’s Smith said, "There is no doubt in our mind that Sam Walton is turning over in his grave. This is really an attack from Walmart upon [traditional] values – an attack that Mr. Walton himself would highly question."
